About Defence Services Command and Staff College

Defence Services Command and Staff College is a prime military institution of Bangladesh Armed Forces. Established on 30th December, 1977, DSCSC provides professional military education to selected mid-career officers of the three services and prepares them for assumption of increasing responsibilities both in command and staff appointment. Here officers from the Army, Navy and Air Force from home and abroad learn about operations of war in a joint environment encompassing Land, Air and Maritime forces. The College is well acclaimed internationally as a centre of excellence for study on subjects of contemporary military interest and has so far graduated over 5979 officers including 1301 officers from 44 different countries. The college is affiliated to the Bangladesh University of Professionals which offers an 'MSS in Military Studies' degree on successful completion of the course. Located at Mirpur a suburb of Dhaka city, 16 Km away from the city centre, the College provides a wonderful campus with adequate infrastructure for education, training, research, housing, sporting and recreational facilities for the student officers.

Graduation Info

DSCSC awards the title ‘psc’ (passed staff college) to the officers successfully completing the course. Besides, all who qualifies in the Masters programme, are also awarded MSS in Security Studies under the auspices of Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP). The Graduation Ceremony is held at the end of the course, usually in the month of February and is preceded by a Graduation Dinner. Hon’ble President or the Prime Minister graces the ceremony as the chief guest and hands over the graduation certificates to the graduating officers. The other guests in the Graduation Dinner and Ceremony include, Cabinet Ministers, Members of Parliament, Services Chiefs, Senior Armed Forces Offiers, Ex Services Chiefs, Ex Commandants of the College, Ambassadors/High Commissioners and Defence Attaches, guest speakers, civil sponsors and other eminent members of the country.
