Major General Md Akbar Hossain, SBP, SUP (BAR), afwc, psc, G+ has taken over the coveted responsibility of the Commandant, Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC), Mirpur on 08 March 2020. Prior to his current assignment, he was the General Officer Commanding of an Infantry Division.
He was born in Noakhali District of Bangladesh on 11 November 1965. An ex-cadet of Faujdarhat Cadet College, Major General Akbar was commissioned in the Regiment of Artillery on 20 December 1985 with 13th Bangladesh Military Academy Long Course.
His illustrious career of more than three decades has a fine mix of diverse responsibilities. He commanded an Infantry Division, an Independent Air Defence Artillery Brigade and an Air Defence Artillery Unit. He was the Director General of Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI), where he also previously served in the capacities of General Staff Officer First Grade, Colonel General Staff, Detachment Commander and Director. As a Staff, he served as Brigade Major of an Artillery Brigade and as General Staff Officer First Grade of Bangladesh Military Academy. He also served in School of Infantry and Tactics (SI&T) as Instructor Class B.
Besides attending several professional training courses at home and abroad, Major General Akbar also graduated from National Defence College, Dhaka and Defence Services Command and Staff College, Mirpur. His important foreign courses and assignments include International Intelligence Fellows Program (IIFP) at National Intelligence University of USA, China Language Education Course at Beijing Language Institute of China, and Advanced China Language Education Course at Beijing Language and Culture University of China. He obtained Masters of War Studies and Masters in Defence Studies from National University of Bangladesh, Masters in Science (Technical) from Bangladesh University of Professionals, and PhD from Jahangirnagar University.
For his relentless service, hard work and dedication to the Army and the Nation, he was awarded with ‘Army Medal (Senabahini Padak – SBP)’, the highest distinguished service medal, and also ‘Army Medal of Excellence (Sena Utkorsho Padak – SUP)’ twice.
Major General Akbar is a widely travelled person who visited 54 different countries across the globe. A traditional family man, the General is married to Sufia Akbar and is proud father of one son and one daughter. He takes keen interest in reading, internet browsing and tourism.
Air Commodore Hasan Mahmood Khan, GUP,nswc, psc was born on 20 June 1966 in Dhaka. He joined Bangladesh Air Force as Flight Cadet on 19 January 1984 in 12 GD(P) (13 BMA L/C) and commissioned on 15 June 1986 in General Duties (Pilot) Branch.
Air Commodore Hasan Mahmood Khan, GUP,nswc, psc was born on 20 June 1966 in Dhaka. He joined Bangladesh Air Force as Flight Cadet on 19 January 1984 in 12 GD(P) (13 BMA L/C) and commissioned on 15 June 1986 in General Duties (Pilot) Branch. During his long military service career, he held a number of important command, staff and instructional appointments.
Air Cdre Hasan is an esteemed Fighter pilot of Bangladesh Air Force. He is operational pilot of F-6, A-5 IIIA, F-7MB, F-7BG and MiG-29 aircraft. He is one of the pioneers of Mig-29 Squadron who was initially trained in Russia. Later on the air officer has also flown Bell-206 helicopter.
The air officer symbolizes the smartness and dynamism of Air Force. He left his strong footsteps and sign of difference wherever he served. He did his flying instructors’ course from USAF and became a distinguished graduate. The air officer clinched the prestigious “TOP GUN” trophy as a young Flight Lieutenant. He commanded the prestigious 8 Squadron (Mig-29 Squadron) thrice. While serving as OC Training Wing, he implemented the new training system for airman. He was the maiden independent Commandant of BAF Academy. Female pilots of BAF started flying under his direct supervision when he was the Deputy Commandant of BAF Academy. The Air Officer has also served as Staff Officer to ACAS (0&T), Deputy Director of Air Operations, Directing Staff of Defense Services Command and Staff College, OC Flying Wing BAF Base Bangabandhu (twice), Director of Air Operations (twice), Director of Plans and Director of Air Intelligence. The air officer has served twice In UN peace support mission, once in Sierra Leon and once in DR Congo. For his outstanding service, the air officer was awarded with three COAS commendations, Flying Efficiency Badge and Gourabojjal Uddayan Padok (GUP).
He has attended various courses at home and abroad. He is a graduate of Defense Services Command and Staff College, Mirpur, Air Force Command College, Beijing, China and National Strategic and War Course from National Defense University, Pakistan. He has earned Masters in Defence Studies from National University, Bangladesh and Masters in National Security and War Studies from National Defence University, Pakistan.
Air Cdre Hasan is a keen golfer. He enjoys reading books & journals, watching movies and documentary films. He is happily married to Mrs Saleha Khan and blessed with a daughter and a son. His daughter; Ms Sarah Basharat Hasan is a student of MBBS while son Mr Sameer Hasan Khan is student of A levels.
Prior to his present appointment as the Deputy Commandant of Defence Services Command & Staff College, Mirpur he was Air Officer Commanding of BAF Base Cox’s Bazar.

A dedicated military professional, Brigadier General Kamrul was commissioned in the East Bengal Regiment with 21st Bangladesh Military Academy (BMA) Long Course in December 1989. In his long 30 years of service, he commanded two infantry battalions and an infantry brigade. As a ‘Maker of the Leaders,’ he also commanded the 1st Bangladesh Battalion in Bangladesh Military Academy. He has 06 years and 10 months of operational service during his three tenures in Chattogram Hill Tracts.
A distinguished instructor, Brigadier General Kamrul served in all premier training institutions which include Platoon Commander in BMA, Directing Staff in Tactics Wing, School of Infantry and Tactics (SI&T), and a Faculty Member of DSCSC.
Apart from his regimental staff duties, he served twice in the Army Headquarters, Military Secretary’s Branch, looking after the human resource management of the officers of Bangladesh Army.
He has rich experiences of operating in a multinational environment. Under Blue Helmet, he served as a Sector Commander in highly volatile Central African Republic (MINUSCA). He served as an Operations Officer in Sector Headquarters, Liberia (UNMIL) and a Mechanized Platoon Commander of Bangladeshi contingent in Kuwait (UNIKOM).
He has undertaken numerous professional training courses both at home and abroad. He attended a Mid-career Course in Pakistan, Armed Forces Command and General Staff Course in the Philippines, Higher Defence Management Course and Advance Course in Management in India, and Project Management Course in Switzerland. He is a graduate of DSCSC (Mirpur, Bangladesh), Army Command and General Staff College (Philippines), College of Defence Management, (Secunderabad, India) and National Defence College (Mirpur, Bangladesh). He obtained Masters in Defence Studies from the National University of Bangladesh, Masters in Business Administration from Canadian Royal Roads University (Bangladesh Campus) and Masters of Management Science from Hyderabad University (India). He is qualified in French Language Course Level-1 (Certificate D’Etudes de Francaise Pratique 1 Niveau A2 du Conseil de l’Europe) from Alliance Francaise, Dhaka. He also attended French Elementary Language Certificate Course at Bangladesh University of Professional, Mirpur, Bangladesh. He is trained on International Humanitarian Law. Currently, he is undergoing a doctoral programme at Jahangirnagar University.
A traditional family man, Brigadier General Kamrul is married to Mrs Rahima Akter and blessed with one son. He takes keen interests in playing Football, Lawn Tennis, Golf, and Cycling.
