Brig Gen Mohammad Asadullah Minhazul Alam, ndu, psc, PhD is the 26th Chief Instructor of Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC), in office since 28 December 2022. He supervises planning, organizing, coordination and execution of the course curriculum for the Command and Staff Course of the three services. Brig Gen Mohammad Asadullah Minhazul Alam, ndu, psc, PhD is the 26th Chief Instructor of Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC), in office since 28 December 2022. He supervises planning, organizing, coordination and execution of the course curriculum for the Command and Staff Course of the three services. Prior to his current assignment, he worked as Director of Overseas Operations Directorate at the Army Headquarters. Born in the port city of Chattogram on 14 September 1971, he was raised in a teacher’s family and had his childhood education spread in several places of the country. Brig Gen Minhaz was commissioned in the corps of Infantry with the 25th Bangladesh Military Academy Long Course. He was graduated with the award of the Sword of Honour, for the best all-round performance. A commando officer with an ongoing 31 years plus career in Bangladesh Army, Brig Gen Minhaz acquired extensive working and learning experiences at home and abroad. He worked in the United Nations field missions (in 1999-2000 as UNMO in UNTAET, in 2020-21 as Sector Commander, MINUSCA), served in the CHTs on several terms (incl Comd an Inf Bn) for Counter Insurgency and post Counter Insurgency operations, commanded a contingent in Kuwait and commanded a brigade in Ramu with intense involvement in Rohingya (FDMN) affairs. During 2020-2021 Brig Gen Minhaz commanded a multinational sectoral force in volatile Central African Republic under UN peace keeping mission. He was the founding Director of the Army War Game Centre (AWGC), a prime project of the Army – materialized after three years of extensive research and development. He had been the Aide-de-Camp of a General Officers Commanding, Adjutant and General Staff Officer-2 Training in East Bengal Regiment Center and Brigade Major of an infantry brigade. He also served twice in Army Training and Doctrine Command as General Staff Officer-1 and Chief of Doctrine Division. Besides the regimental services, Brig Gen Minhaz had served as Instructor Class-A in Defence Service Command and Staff College. A graduate and alumnus of DSCSC, Singapore Command and Staff College and National Defence University (NDU), USA, Brig Gen Minhaz is a PhD from Jahangirnagar University in International Relations discipline. He obtained three masters from national and international universities: Master in Defence Studies from National University (NU), Master of Business Administration from Royal University, Dhaka (RUD) and Master of Science in National Security Strategy from NDU. He is married to Syeda Marzia Begum and father of two daughters. His areas of interest include travel, history, music, chess, cricket, literature and astronomy. More an avid reader, Brig Gen Minhaz regularly writes for newspapers and journals, and authored two books till date: Band of Brothers and the Societal Debt in 2010, Rhapsodies of Solitude in 2020. |
