Major General Ibne Fazal Shayekhuzzaman, BSP (BAR), SGP, afwc, psc has joined as the 27th Commandant of Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC), Mirpur on 17 February 2022. Prior to his current assignment, he was the Engineer in Chief Bangladesh Army. The General was commissioned with 16th BMA Long Course in the year of 1987. In the long thirty five years of illustrious career, General Shayekh has a wonderful mix of command, instructional and staff appointments. Besides, he has attended number of courses both in home and abroad. The General is a graduate of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) in Civil Engineering.

1. Major General Ibne Fazal Shayekhuzzaman, BSP (BAR), SGP, afwc, psc has joined as the 27th Commandant of Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC), Mirpur on 17 February 2022. Among the staff appointments, he served as the GSO-3 (Operation) of 66 Infantry Division, GSO-1 (Foreign Affairs and Protocol) in Armed Forces Division, GSO-1 (Operation) in Military Operation Directorate and finally as Colonel Staff of 9 Infantry Division in Savar. In the instructional capacity, He served as Platoon Commander in BMA, as instructor in School of Infantry and Tactics and School of Military Engineering. General Shayekh Commanded two Engineer units and 14 Independent Engineer Brigade. The General Served as Engineer in Chief of Bangladesh Army. 3. The General participated in The Gulf War in 1991. He was also closely knitted with the Rana Plaza Rescue Operation in 2013. The General has worked extensively on development of the riverine tactics and riverine capacity building for Bangladesh Army. He is also the founding director of National Telecommunication Monitoring Centre (NTMC), apex body for lawful interception. As Engineer in Chief he was the pivot of various national developments projects across the country. 4. Major General Shayekh is a widely travelled person. He is a keen and passionate reader. The General is a bonafide blood donor and donated blood for 59 (Fifty Nine) times. The general is happily married with Tanjina Sattar and a proud father of Raslaan and Nusaiba. |
Air Commodore Qazi Mazharul Karim, BSP, BUP, ndu, ndc, acsc, psc was born on 18 Aug 1967 in Dhaka. He joined Bangladesh Air Force as Flight Cadet on 17 August 1985 in 15 GD(P) (16 BMA L/C) and was commissioned on 29 December 1987 in General Duties (Pilot) Branch. During his long military service career, he held a number of important command, staff and instructional appointments.

Air Commodore Qazi Mazharul Karim, BSP, BUP, ndu, ndc, acsc, psc was born on 18 Aug 1967 in Dhaka. He joined Bangladesh Air Force as Flight Cadet on 17 August 1985 in 15 GD(P) (16 BMA L/C) and was commissioned on 29 December 1987 in General Duties (Pilot) Branch. During his long military service career, he held a number of important command, staff and instructional appointments. In his early career he served as ADC to COAS, flying instructor at BAF Academy and operational fighter squadrons. He commanded the prestigious 5 Squadron and 35 Squadron of Bangladesh Air Force. He was pioneer for induction of F-7BG aircraft in BAF and conducted overseas ferry flight of fighter formation on two different occasions. He was also instrumental during induction of FM-90 SAM in BAF, the first ever surface to air missile system of Bangladesh. The Air Officer has also served as Officer Commanding Flying Training Wing, BAF Academy, Directing Staff of Defense Services Command and Staff College, Officer Commanding Flying Wing, BAF Base Zahurul Haque, Director of Recruitment, Director of Air Operations, Director Overseas Air Operation, Director of Air Intelligence and Air Secretary. The Air Officer has served in Haiti, DR Congo and Mali under UN Mandate. At Haiti he was awarded with ‘US Army Achievement Medal’ besides UN Peace Keeping Medal for his meritorious service. The Air Officer was awarded with COAS commendation on six occasions for his outstanding contribution and selfless service. He is a recipient of ‘Mofiz Trophy’ for being top of the class of 18th Flying Instructor’s Course. He is also a recipient of Flying Efficiency Badge for his exceptional ability in low level flying display in F-7BG aircraft. Besides, he is credited with peace time award ‘Distinguished Service Medal (BSP)’ and ‘Air Excellence Medal (BUP)’. He has attended various courses at home and abroad. He is a qualified flight safety officer and a graduate of Flight Safety Institute, Pakistan Air Force. He is a graduate of Defense Services Command and Staff College, Mirpur; and National Defense College, Mirpur. He is an alumni of Air Command and Staff College, Maxwell, Alabama, USA and National Defense University, China. He has earned ‘Masters in Defence Studies’ from National University, Bangladesh, ‘Master of Military operational art and Science’ from Air University, USA. He completed ‘MPhil Part-I’ from National University, Bangladesh. He is awaiting ‘master’s certification’ from National Defense University, China. Air Cdre Mazhar has interest in the game of squash and tennis. He enjoys reading books & journals, watching movies and documentary films. He is happily married to Mrs Marufa Mazhar and blessed with two sons. His eldest son; Qazi Zarif-Ul Islam is an undergraduate student of Electrical Engineering and youngest son Qazi Raisat Ul Islam is a student of grade VIII.
Brigadier General Abul Hasnat Mohammad Tariq, ndu, afwc, psc is the 25th Chief Instructor of Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC), Mirpur. He has taken over the responsibility on 13 August 2020. Prior to his current assignment, he had been attending National War College Course 2019-20 in the United States.

Brigadier General Abul Hasnat Mohammad Tariq, ndu, afwc, psc is the 25th Chief Instructor of Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC), Mirpur. He has taken over the responsibility on 13 August 2020. Prior to his current assignment, he had been attending National War College Course 2019-20 in the United States. He was born in the district of Netrokona on 31 December 1971 and had his childhood education in Dhaka till joining Mirzapur Cadet College. A dedicated military professional, Brigadier General Tariq was commissioned on 20 December 1992 in the corps of Infantry with 27th BMA Long Course. He had commanded an infantry battalion, an infantry brigade, and a UN contingent. He had been the Brigade Major of an infantry brigade and Operations Officer in a UN sector headquarters. He has also served twice as a Directing Staff in Deffence Services Command and Staff Colleges, Mirpur. Besides the regimental services, Brigadier General Tariq had served as Assistant Director in the Special Security Force (SSF), Bangladesh, Group Testing Officer (GTO) in the Inter Services Selection Board (ISSB), and Battalion Commander of Training Battalion in Bangladesh Infantry Regimental Centre. He has about four years of operational service in Chattogram Hill Tracts. Under the blue helmet, he had served as a UN military observer in UNAMSIL (Sierra Leone), Operations Officer in a Sector Headquarters in UNMIL (Liberia), and a Contingent Commander in the deadliest peacekeeping environment of MINUSMA (Mali). He is a graduate of Defence Services Command and Staff College, Mirpur and National War College, USA. He had also attended Armed Forces War Course from National Defence College, Bangladesh. Beside the training courses in Bangladesh, he had under gone International Post Blast Investigation Training in the United States, VVIP Protection Course in Thailand and Knowledge Management and Development Course in Turkey. He obtained Masters in Defence Studies from National University of Bangladesh and Masters in National Security Strategy from National Defense University, USA. A traditional family man, Brigadier General Tariq is happily married to Mrs Sayma Khan and a proud father of two daughters. His areas of interest include golf and travelling.
